Ali speaks on the issues in the volunteer fire service and what steps we can take to be more inclusive and diverse. The volunteer fire service is running out of ‘traditional white males.’ Diversity is a solution to this problem. Women and people of color are a growing and untapped source of volunteer firefighters. Many individuals are not aware this opportunity exists. Bringing new and different people into the volunteer fire service requires an environment prepared for them.
